Happy Monday! So excited about this post because I'm hoping you'll join me in a really fun project. Today, details about the 2014 #sketchbookproject were announced! It's like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks and anyone from anywhere can take part. I submitted a book last year . . .
.... and it went on tour all over the country, including a stop here in Austin. Macy, me, and the Hubs went to the event back in September at Co-Lab - an artist-run nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating public projects and exhibiting works of art. Here's Macy at the #sketchbookproject tour stop in Austin . . .
Art House Co-Op in Brooklyn is the mastermind behind this annual project and it's so fun and so rewarding. In fact, after going on tour, your book becomes a permanent part of the sketchbook collection and the Brooklyn Art Library. In addition to the physical library, there's the option to have your book digitized and included in the digial library. here's mine . . .
I didn't do it for 2013 and wish that I would have! In fact, the 2013 tour is coming to Austin this weekend! So, you can always check it out first to see if you'd like to participate - it's free to attend (donations are encouraged)
The cost to submit a book is $25 for a base submission (goes on tour, gets included in the Library collection). Or, to have your book digitized and get a few extras, it's $60. It may seem like a bit much, but I think it's totally worth it. Think about it ... just $60 to have your work be a part of an art show and permanent art collection - that's kinda priceless :)
Here's the sign-up intel: Go to www.sketchbookproject.com and . . .
There's plenty of time to sign-up, so no rush. I'll be posting periodically about how mine is coming along. Let me know if you decide to do it!
Have a great week
