It's almost March and while some may be thinking of March Madness and basketball, my madness is all about a guest room makeover I'm desparately trying to finish! Over the month of March, I'll be posting periodically on how my redo is going. To get things started, I thought I'd share a few pics - starting with the reason I'm doing the makeover :\ . . .
Uhhhh - pains me every time I look at this picture of our guest bedroom. To think I actually made guests sleep here :/ p.s. I know it looks like there's someone sleeping in the pic above but it's just pillows from me trying to quickly cover up an unmade bed before taking this photo! This poor room gets no love - what a mess!
As much as I tried to tell myself the color "is very Tuscan" or "at least you went with a bold choice", the room is just so polarizing. It's amazing anyone got any rest sleeping in there! Now, let me stop and say if you have this color or have seen this color work well, that's exactly why I'm writing this post! I've learned the hard way that what works for others, may not work for you (or your room).
So, when I began this makeover, I decided to approach things differently. I actually used a fantastic book The Meghan Method
Essentially, Meghan gives you step-by-step worksheets that start with your aspirations and functional needs that really get to how you'll use the room and how you want to feel in the room, rather than just the way the room looks. It's had a profound affect on how I approach decorating.
I'll be posting more on the worksheets and the process that ultimately led to my final color selection as well as room furniture, deco and of course the final reveal! But, for now I'll leave you with a little sneak peek of some of the inspirations from my color mood board . . .
Do you have any makeover projects on the horizon? Would love to hear about it!
